Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every child has unique strengths and abilities. It is my job as their teacher to assist each child in developing their own potential while supporting their individual learning styles. I do this by taking the time to know and understand each of my students. As a visual artist, I understand the importance of developing a curriculum that serves a variety of learners because every classroom has its own unique community.

Art education encourages students to grow creatively as well as academically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Art education does not stand alone, but rather it enhances the lessons being taught in other subject areas. I work with educators in other subject areas in orders to create a united curriculum for our students. Collaboration among educators promotes lesson plans which compliment each other in content and enhance student’s educational experiences.

As an art educator, I believe that it is essential to create a stimulating educational environment where students are inspired to learn and grow creatively. I do this by providing my students with structure and clear learning objectives within our assignments. I will encourage my students to express and accept themselves for who they are, as well embrace and celebrate the differences in others.
